National parks and protected landscape areas

The whole territory of Slovakia belongs to the extensive Alps-Himalayan mountain system. The Carpathians include all mountain ranges and basins on the Slovak territory. There are 180 protected territories of smaller area in the Prešov region, two protected landscape areas and five national parks stretch into the region: Tatra National Park - TANAP, national Park Pieniny - PIENAP, National Park Polonin, national Park Low Tatras - NAPANT and Slovak paradise National park. High tatras are the highest mountain range in Slovakia.
