Wooden churches
Tserkov is an established name used by Greek Catholic and orthodox believers to refer to their churches. The main part of the tserkov is iconostat - a wooden wall with icons separating the altar from the rest of the church. The wooden Carpathian tserkov were built by Carpathian Rusyns, who had lived along Slovak-Poland-Ukraine border since the 14th century. In 2008, four of them were inscribed on the UNESCO´s World Heritage list.
